As many of you who read this know, I love a good cup of coffee. A number of years ago, before I had caught the vision for specialty coffees, I used to mock the "sophisticated" tastes of my java loving friends. What can I say, I have now become "one of them" and people mock me regularly as they wonder at the exorbitant prices I pay for a cup of the "drink of the gods!"
As most of you know who read this blog, we are in Mazatlan, Mexico and I am writing you from Rico's Coffee Bar. The wonderful staff here at Rico's has come to know me by name and "my usual" as I spend hours here 3-4 times a week answering emails and blogging away. I have come to really enjoy the company I keep at Rico's because these people are very friendly and make a great cup of cafe'. Rogelio and Marianne are the proprietors of Rico's and some of the warmest people we have yet encountered in Mazatlan. The staff is very professional and can be counted on for a great big smile anytime of the day.
To top it off, Marianne is a devoted follower of Jesus and a mother of sorts to all of her staff! I can tell everyone genuinely loves working here and the Spirit of God is very welcome. As many others have commented over the years, what could be better than a great cup of java and some friends to enjoy it with? Please, go get a cup of coffee with some family or friends and if you are ever in Mazatlan, by all means, GO TO RICO'S!
P.S. - the Rico's website is not ready yet, but should be by mid December.
I'm glad God has given you good company and a sense of belonging while you are away from us... just don't get tooooo comfortable, we want you back!
ReplyDeletePS: You said I could critique,so...I liked the previous banner better! (so did Cassia) And - you may want to take the bold off of the titles under your category headings, everything feels as if it is vying for attention.

ReplyDeleteDeea,
ReplyDeleteI laughed my head off with your song! I showed Rogelio and he was very impressed with your creativity. I told him this was par for the course for you. Anyway, thanks for the comments and the critique of the site. I will adjust certain things and keep some things the same.
We love and miss everyone! Give my love to all.
Doug
If you think the java and company's great in Mazatlan, just think what it will be like at the feet of Jesus in Heaven-Miss you you all-continue to be Blessed with crossing paths with followers of our King and for every follower may He bring a lost soul to cross your path.Blessings to all-Shelly
ReplyDeleteI didn't do the song!!! It was the James man... I could never be that creative!
ReplyDeleteMiss you, man. If this thing works, there's a link to my blog below. If not, go to yd.org and you should still be able to find it. Personally, I am thoroughly enjoying our time every Wed. morning with the youth pastors - Brent (Immanuel Lutheran), Raul, Justin (New Beginnings) and Dave and myself. We've invited the others, but no show for the most part. Anyway, we meet every Wed. AM at Rhapsody in Brew. It's been something I've started to truly look forward to, for both the mocha and the company... but mainly the latter. Personally, I enjoy what I've seen of your blog... but I'm not a connoisseur. Praying for you.
ReplyDeleteHi Doug,
ReplyDeleteIt was a pleasure meeting you and your family in Mazatlan. Thanks for the email with your blog links.
I tracked back to the "High God Dwells With Low People" post and enjoyed the compelling debate between you, Petrina and your readership. I especially found it interesting in light of the entry I'd just read at Real Live Preacher (the blog I mentioned to you at Rico's.) If you're interested... http://www.reallivepreacher.com/node/621?PHPSESSID=5daddca6173378bff811759146be3b2a).
I look forward to reading more of you. Enjoy your stay in Mazatlan.
Best,
Jen
